Born in 1928 in Xiamen, China, Lim Yew Kuan was the son of Lim Hak Tai, founding principal of NAFA. After graduating from NAFA with a Diploma in Western Painting, he went on to study Western painting and printmaking at the Chelsea School of Art in London, before becoming a lecturer and eventually principal of NAFA between 1963 and 1979.
This book was published in conjunction with a retrospective exhibition of his works. It contains numerous images of the artists' works from the 1950s to the present. Also included in the book is a message from Professor Cham Tao Soon, Chairman of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Board, a foreward by Mr Kwok Kian Chow, Director of The National Art Gallery, Singapore and essays by Allison Liu Daison, a Beijing Art Collector, Choy Weng Yang the artist, and Ms Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA.
