Cheong Soo Pieng (1917 - 1983) was an influential arts educator and pioneer artist who was admired and respected in his time and ours. He was known to be a reserved and reticent practitioner, whose range of styles and artworks continues to provide unique avenues of discovery for art lovers and artists alike.

Soo Pieng showcases over 50 works by the artist, an unprecedented selection of drawings, mixed media sculptural reliefs, oil paintings as well as landscapes in ink and colour of the early period. Also included are several critical pieces of Cheong's post 1979 practice, following his return to China after settling in Malaya and then Singapore for more than 30 years.

The title also features a foreword by Mr Koh Seow Chuan, Chairman of the National Art Gallery, and an essay canvassing the life and works of Cheong by Ms Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA.
