The Single Leaf: Woodblock Printmaking
Published in 2012
The Single Leaf is a compilation of over 50 works examining the history and development of woodblock prints as a medium and art form particularly within Nanyang. The majority of the works depict the specific decades when woodblock prints first came into vogue, illustrating the life of the everyday man and uttering a preamble to social and political change that was to come. The book includes the works of visiting artists who left their artistic legacy as part of the academy's collection.
The title also features an essay on the historical development of woodcut in printmaking by Ms Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA.
